Lighthouses and Seascapes

The beauty and power of the ocean is humbling and for years Thomas Kinkade has given all of us reason to pause and give respect to it's power. His ability to paint the rough seas as well as the tranquil bays are calming and encouraging as our minds become fixed on the luminous lighthouses that light up these seascapes.

With titles like Serenity Cove, Perseverance, Sea of Tranquility and Rock of Salvation, Thom urges his admirers to seek something greater in the midst of the trials that we face throughout our lifetime.

    Block Island - 1998

    $ 230.00

    I love lighthouses. The severe, uncompromising lives of the service lived by lonely lighthouse keepers possess a special dignity. The lighthouse has become a profound symbol of human life, poised as it is between the transitory and the eternal.

    Cape May Light - 2003

    $ 860.00

    Cape May Light, which clings to the southernmost tip of New Jersey, is far-famed for its stately height and majestic simplicity of line. To me, it is an emblem of faith and hope, reminding us that we endure lifes storms only through the grace of God.

    Chatham Light - 2004

    $ 730.00

    Chatham Light, guarding the far reaches of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, strikes me as being proud. There was urgency to my painting; the wind was kicking salt spray into the air, and rain threatened. I worked feverishly to capture the dramatic mood. The proud dignity of the historic Chatham Light against the brooding Cape Cod sky reminds us that Gods guiding hand is most profound when lifes storms rage around us.

    Clearing Storms - 1997

    $ 1795.00

    Clearing Storms, is to me, a symbolic scene, charged with a joyous message. Storms-dark, brooding, terrifying- are a part of our lives. When were in the grip of a storm, we may feel abandoned by God. The meaning of Clearing Storms is that Gods love is eternal.

    Conquering the Storms - 1999

    $ 2250.00

    In Conquering the Storms, sixth in my Seaside memories collection, I confront images of Gods awesome power- lightning, storm clouds, driving winds, pounding surf. Here in truth, is a storm that can shake us to the core of our being. And yet, if we hold onto the rock of our faith, we can ride out any storms.

    My New Horizons takes its inspiration from Dutch paintings that celebrate the timeless harbor of the 18th Century. Rock of Salvation - 2001

    $ 995.00

    I was struck, recently, by the gospel music phrase the rock of salvation and suddenly felt myself challenged to present the phrase in one of my prints. Rock of Salvation will be the last creation in my Seaside Memories series. Though watching the sun set over this seven-year series of work is nostalgic and slightly bittersweet, I look forward to the sunrise of a new coastal series in the future.
